How to De-Stress after A Long Week at Work

Relaxing can be difficult when you are constantly under so much work-related stress. Luckily there are a few things that you can do to try and help yourself.

Try some Ambient Noise

You can download some great ambient noises with ease, and they are ideal if you want to unwind at the end of a hard day. Some of the noises that you can use include a nice crackling fire, a bustling coffee shop or even lightning. You have to find something that works for you and you also need to find something that you can relax to as well. I personally like to have some ambient noise while I am reading personal development & mindset books.

Essential Oils

Lavender and rose oil are fantastic for you to relax with. They are very calming, and they are great if you want to try and let all of that stress go at the end of a long week. If you have never tried essential oils before then you need to try and use them with a diffuser. When you do this, you can easily get the full benefit of the oils you use. If this doesn’t work for you then why not look into cannabis vaporizers?

Have a Cup of Tea

Believe it or not, a hot cup of tea can be really relaxing on a cold evening. If you can, try not to have more than one as the caffeine content can make it much harder for you to sleep at night. If you want to help yourself then try and opt for chamomile, lavender or even lemon balm. These are very popular for their calming effects and they are also great if you want to avoid being awake late at night.


Adult colouring books are fantastic for relaxing. Mandalas are a good starting point if you have never done it before and they are super good for stress relief. You can also download a ton of applications online, and when you download them you will soon find that there are hundreds of designs too. The best thing about colouring on an app is that you can take it with you while on the go.



A simple way to help get out of your thoughts. Reading in bed or taking to a chair, putting a lamp on and drifting away from your troubles is one of those things that is ideal for the person who’s mind can’t stop racing. Whether it’s after everyone has gone to sleep and you have the night to yourself, or it’s very early in the morning, it’s one of those pastimes that you can crave, not just because it relaxes you, but it sets you up for the day or night. Choosing a pair of light and comfortable glasses, a pair of slippers, and a warm, soothing beverage can form a lovely routine. And the more you read, the more you feel you’re doing something worthwhile, especially in comparison to passively watching TV.

Go out for a Walk

If it is too cold for you to head outside, then you can try watching a nature video. When you have one on that you like, put in some headphones and drift away. This will help you to really unwind and it will also help you to feel as though you are in the great outdoors. You can also try and go out for a walk. When you do this, you can then breathe in the fresh air and really leave all of your worries behind. Sometimes it helps to walk without a purpose too. So instead of walking to somewhere, such as the shop or even to a friend’s house, just find a country lane and see where the road takes you. You can turn back whenever you want, and you will relax much more as a result as well. You could even take some great pictures while on your journey!
