Why Make Homemade Maple Marshmallows?
If you’ve only ever had store-bought marshmallows, you’re in for a treat. Homemade marshmallows are soft, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious — without the corn syrup, refined sugar, and artificial additives found in packaged ones.
These maple marshmallows are naturally sweetened with maple syrup and honey, flavored with vanilla and maple extract, and made with real gelatin. You can even add collagen peptides for an extra boost to your skin, joints, and gut health.
It’s a nostalgic dessert that doubles as a wholesome, nourishing indulgence.

The Natural Benefits of Maple Marshmallow Ingredients
Maple Syrup
Pure maple syrup is packed with trace minerals like manganese, zinc, and potassium. It also has antioxidant properties and a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, making it a more balanced sweetener. Its deep, earthy sweetness gives these marshmallows their signature flavor.
Honey
Raw honey contains natural enzymes, antioxidants, and antibacterial properties. It can soothe the throat, aid digestion, and boost energy. In marshmallows, honey provides both flavor and a slightly chewy texture.
Gelatin
Gelatin is a natural thickener and the key to fluffy, bouncy marshmallows. Since it’s derived from collagen, it also supports gut health, joint mobility, and skin elasticity.
Collagen Peptides (Optional)
For an extra boost, collagen peptides dissolve easily into the mixture. They support stronger hair, nails, skin, and joints while promoting digestive health. Best of all, they don’t change the taste or texture of your marshmallows.

Vanilla & Maple Extract
Both extracts add rich, cozy flavor. Vanilla is naturally high in antioxidants and may have calming properties, while maple extract enhances sweetness without more sugar.
Sea Salt
A pinch of sea salt balances the flavors and adds trace minerals for depth.
Maple Marshmallow Recipe
Ingredients:
3 packets unflavored gelatin (such as Knox)
½ cup cold water (for blooming gelatin)
1 cup pure maple syrup
¼ cup honey
½ cup water (for syrup mixture)
Pinch of sea salt
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp maple extract
Optional: 2–3 tbsp collagen peptides
Instructions:
In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over ½ cup cold water. Let bloom for 5 minutes.
In a saucepan, combine maple syrup, honey, ½ cup water, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook until the mixture reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
With a stand mixer on low, slowly pour the hot syrup into the gelatin mixture. Increase speed to high and whip 8–10 minutes until thick, glossy, and fluffy.
Add vanilla and maple extract (and collagen, if using). Whip briefly to combine.
Pour into a greased, parchment-lined pan. Smooth the top and let sit at room temperature for 4–6 hours.
Cut into squares and dust lightly with arrowroot powder or powdered sugar.
Storage Tips
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Freeze for up to 1 month and thaw before enjoying or even better freeze dry or dehydrate for a homemade treat that will last longer.
