How I Created Sacred Space In A Multi Purpose Room
I live in a house that can be quite chaotic at times , 3 cats , a dog , a husband and 2 grown boys. Finding a quite place to work and meditate can be difficult.
When I was chronically ill , I was working propped up in bed and one of the first things I did that made a huge difference for my healing and self development was to create a space that was not cluttered with things I didn’t love or need in this space.
It is still a work in progress but I am getting closer to having a completely decluttered space that is full of positive energy.
I also started applying Feng Shui principles as best as I could in the space while filling it with things that brought me peace and joy and helped me to ground and center.

Creating Sacred Space In A Multi Functional Room
Making a space multi functional for 2 people can be challenging but lucky for me , I have a husband who loves my design taste.
I majorly decluttered the room several months back. I had a closet that was full of high end cosmetics that I no longer used plus a bunch of other “stuff” that was just collecting dust. This is still a work in progress but got rid of most of that stuff that just wasn’t in line with my life anymore. So I have replaced those items and use the closet more to store things for easier access.
I replaced those things with:
- crystals
- incense
- plants
- essential oils
- candles
- tuning forks
- singing bowls
- smudging supplies
- wands
- dreamcatchers
- spiritual decor
- yoga mat
- essential oil diffuser
- suncatcher

Creating Sacred Space At Home Is Essential To Maintain Good Mental Health
With the current state of the world, it is important to take time to clear negative energy and disconnect from the media.
Perhaps you used to leave the home to meditate or practice yoga and due to social distancing rules, you cannot leave the house to go to the studio.
Even if it is just a corner of a room. create enough space for an alter ( if you need one) , a yoga mat and a meditation pillow.
When I am working ( my workspace is placed in the direction in my room for abundance ) and I have my desk in front of a window where I have my beautiful Mandala Sun catcher from Catch The Sun Designs.
If you really are lacking space, one of the best ways to create space is with a ritual bath. Once you have cleansed grab your desired beverage , light a candle , turn on your essential oil diffuser , grab your favorite crystals and sit with your journal comfortably in your bed or another space that you find calm and begin scripting your life.
Hi Jennifer, I love how you’ve mentioned that your space doesn’t need to be very big–even a corner will do. I don’t have a permanent sacred space set up (although I might try to make one in a corner) where I have my yoga matt, diffuser, a candle and some crystals. It’s my little oasis!
